Advanced Placement Credits for Visual Arts Studio Courses

Advanced Placement (AP) studio courses which meet the minimum requirements to be applied to a Visual Arts degree will be credited as follows:

AP Studio Art: Drawing ART 1010 Drawing I
AP Studio Art: 2D Art & Design ART 1020 Two-Dimensional Design & Color Theory
AP Studio: 3D Art & Design ART 1030 Three-Dimensional Design

Minimum Requirements to receive 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 credit 

  • A score of 3 or higher on the AP exam  
  • Submission of a digital portfolio. Artworks included must demonstrate knowledge and skills comparable to those taught in 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 foundation courses. The portfolio will be reviewed by visual arts faculty using the criteria described below. 
    • Note: Only images of artworks created as part of the AP exam that scored 3 or higher may be included in the portfolio.

Submitting Your Portfolio

Portfolios are accepted and reviewed each semester by the deadlines below. Students will be notified of the decision via 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 email within two weeks of the submission due date. It is highly recommended that students submit portfolios by the first month of their first semester at 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 to ensure adequate progress through the degree program.

Prior to submitting a portfolio for consideration, you must: 

  • Confirm your acceptance at 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 
  • Review your student records on Banner to ensure that 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 has received your AP score from College Board 

Submission Dates

  • Fall semester - October 31 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Spring/Summer semester - March 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Submission Process

For each AP studio art course, please complete the requirements and upload a PDF file under 5gb that include:

  • 5 to 7 digital images 
    • JPGS: 1600px on the longest side
    • Include two views of three-dimensional works.
      • Here is a . 
  • A caption with  descriptive title, original materials, original size (H x W; H x W x D), and date of creation.

Notification

Students who successfully earn credit for their AP work will receive a notification via email. Students who do not earn credit for their AP portfolio will receive detailed feedback with suggestions for improvement and must register for the course for which they sought credit.

As students are awaiting their results, we encourage registering for other classes to maintain their full-time or part-time enrollment status. We encourage art majors to complete area F coursework (ART 1010, ART 1020, ART 1030) by their third semester. For course suggestions, please refer to the Visual Arts Course Planning Guides webpage.
