Roots - Hispanic Heritage Month Juried Art Exhibition

正澳门六合彩开奖结果 Students affiliated with any campus and program are invited to submit artworks to the fourth 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 juried art exhibition celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. This exhibition will also include four guest artists from the North Georgia community.

Roots explores how our multicultural connections enable us to affirm ourselves in the world as unique, complex individuals and as part of communities. Students may submit two and three-dimensional media artworks which interpret on this broad concept. 

Works are accepted in traditional art media (painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography, etc.) as well as craft media, digital media, and recycled or discarded materials.

This is a juried exhibition for 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 students. Six $50 awards will be presented to participating 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 students selected by an external juror. In 2024, our juror is .

The exhibition is organized by the Department of Visual Arts and sponsored by Multicultural Student Affairs, with support from a LEAP into Action grant.

  • Exhibition Dates: October 1 – November 19, 2024
  • Reception and Award Ceremony: October 8, 2024 from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Guest Artists’ Panel – November 19, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Location:
  • Parking: During business hours, unrestricted parking spaces are available behind the library in Lot 49 (#17 on this ). 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 parking is unrestricted after 5 pm and on weekends.
  • Hours: 
    • Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
    • Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

    • Sunday: 11:00 a.m. - midnight

Submission Instructions

  • Complete the  and upload photos of your work/s with this form by Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. 
  • You may submit photos representing up to two artworks. An acceptance notification will be sent to your 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 email address within 48 hours.
  • Deliver your physical artwork/s by Tuesday, September 19, 2024 at either of these locations:
    • Dahlonega campus - Hansford Hall Student Gallery, second floor Hansford Hall – Between 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday; by 3 p.m. Friday.
    • Gainesville Campus - Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, across from Counseling Services– Between 8 a.m. -5 p.m.

Artworks

  • Artworks should not exceed 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft.
  • Two-dimensional digital artworks should be submitted printed and framed. Three-dimensional works that cannot be displayed directly on the floor will be displayed on black or white pedestals. Our available pedestals accommodate works no wider than 11" x 11".
  • Two-dimensional works should be framed or mounted on a stretcher and ready to be hung from a wire. Please review this link to prepare your frame or stretcher for gallery display.
  • Frames - Please note that affordable frames are welcome for gallery display. Frames such as these ones are acceptable as long as they are prepared for installation as described above. Consider planning your artwork for the frame you can afford.
  • Additionally, the Department of Visual Arts owns several frames that you are welcome to borrow, if they will fit your needs. These frames are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
