This guide provides undocumented students and counselors with resources to navigate the college application process and financial aid at ��ϲʿ��. En español.

Why ��ϲʿ��?

The University of North Georgia enrolls DACA recipients and undocumented students. We have many online degree programs at affordable tuition rates.

Financial Aid & Tuition Restrictions

DACA recipients and undocumented students are:

ineligible for state and federal financial aid including the Pell Grant, loans and the Zell Miller & HOPE Scholarships
charged at the out-of-state tuition rate

Earning College Credit

Earn College Credit in High School

Dual Enrollment
DACA recipients and undocumented students are eligible for the Dual Enrollment Program.

Dual Enrollment allows students to take free college courses while in high school.

Students can graduate from high school with an associate degree.

AP Courses
DACA recipients and undocumented students can take AP courses while in high school.

If they pass the AP exam, they may be eligible to obtain college credit depending on the minimum scores accepted by each institution.

Other Ways to Earn College Credit

Modern States Freshman Year Free Program
Modern States is an online program that helps students complete their freshman year of college for free.

Why Modern States?

All students must take core classes in math, science, social studies, English and a modern language. Students can take these online courses at their pace to fulfill the core classes requirement.

How does it work?

After completing a Modern States course, students are given a waiver to take the CLEP exam. If they pass the CLEP exam, they can be granted academic credit by the institution they send their scores to.

Earn Language Credits with CLEP/FLATS Exams
The CLEP and FLATS exams allow students to obtain college credit in a modern language.

Students can obtain up to 14 credit hours.

Most Spanish speaking students take the Spanish CLEP or FLATS exam and are able to obtain full credit.

Students may enroll in a tuition payment plan.

Tips for Applying to ��ϲʿ��

Tips for filling out your new freshman application.

If you do not have a social security number, you can fill out the application without including it.
When asked if you are applying for in-state tuition, select NO.
After you submit your application, ask your counselor to send ��ϲʿ�� your official high school transcript via GA Futures. You do not need to send ��ϲʿ�� a picture of your ID if you do not have one.
If you participated in dual enrollment or attended another college, request their registrar’s office to send ��ϲʿ�� an official transcript.

Scholarships & Resources

Scholarships

Scholarships for DACA recipients and undocumented students in Georgia are limited. Public universities are limited on the funding they can provide undocumented students.

��ϲʿ�� Goizueta Scholarship
- DACA and undocumented students are eligible.
- DACA and TPS recipients are eligible for the HSF Scholarship. Undocumented students are not eligible.

Additional Resources

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy, Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 require higher education institutions to provide an that contain crime statistics and fire statistics for the three most recently completed calendar years, institutional policies or procedures for reporting crimes and current policies concerning the security of, and access to, campus facilities and residencies, as well as security considerations in the maintenance of campus facilities.
