About the Music Department
Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the University of North Georgia Department of Music provides quality education for developing musicians. Our distinguished faculty, combined with a low student-to-faculty ratio, enables students to cultivate musicianship in a supportive environment.
We present a diverse series of ensemble performances, student and faculty recitals, guest artist master classes, and concerts. In addition, the Music Department sponsors area choral and instrumental clinics, conferences, and research symposiums, and serves as a cultural center for communities in North Georgia.
General Mission
The Department of Music provides quality education for developing musicians by fostering excellence in artistry and scholarship through a supportive peer environment, individualized attention, and diverse approaches to instruction, leading to a lifelong engagement with music.
