Mountain Order of Columbo Video Transcript

The University of North Georgia is one of the nation’s six senior military colleges. Our Corps of Cadets is Army centric and has a number of specialty organizations that challenge our cadets on a daily basis. The Mountain Order of Colombo is one of these cadet specialty units. Founded in 1962 when a group of cadets interested in mountaineering approached the Army Rangers for assistance, Army Ranger Master Sergeant Louis P. Colombo volunteered his time to help establish the organization and thus the organization is named after him.

Our unit focuses on four phases of training that includes basic and advanced mountaineering skills, survival techniques, and patrolling. Some of our training includes the Australian rappel, Australian helicopter rappel, the Dakota fire  hole, combatives training, the Australian crawl rappel, climbing and belay techniques, as well as, casualty evacuation.

Throughout the years, we have sent members of our organization to a number of different training events around the world. Most recently our members have gone to Poland, Switzerland, and the Army’s Mountain Warfare school in Vermont.

Located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Dahlonega, GA, we are fortunate to have a number of great training venues including 正澳门六合彩开奖结果’s Colombo tower, the U.S. Army’s Mountain Ranger Camp, Mount Yonah, and a number of other training locations.
