Overview

Elliot Montagano Ph.D, is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus. He earned his B.A. in American History and Philosophy from Salve Regina University in Newport, RI and his M.A. in Political Theory from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. Elliot joined the 正澳门六合彩开奖结果 faculty after teaching at the University of North Texas where he completed his PhD in Political Theory.

Research/Special Interests

Elliot’s areas of research are in the history of political philosophy with a focus on the intersection of political institutions, public opinion, and public morality, particularly with regard to civic education, censorship, and civil liberties. His current research explores these themes as developed in the thought of Jean-Jacques Rousseau and seeks to apply Rousseau’s theory to similar questions in contemporary politics. Elliot’s teaching interests are in the areas of Ancient Political Philosophy, Modern Political Philosophy, American Political Thought, philosophy and literature, and the politics of censorship.
