Overview
Joseph “Joe” D. Pecorelli is an associate professor of Portuguese and Spanish. He received his Ph.D. in Portuguese from Indiana University in 2018. From Indiana University, he also holds an MA in Portuguese (2012) and an MA in Italian Studies (2008). Additionally, he has an MA in Applied Linguistics (2006) from Ohio University. His research interests include the depiction of immigrants in Brazilian literature and Italian-language writing in Brazil. He has contributed to “The Portuguese Newsletter” and has written articles on the Italian-language press in São Paulo. On the rare occasions in which he has spare time, Joe enjoys playing pool in local leagues and working out.
Research/Special Interests
Dr. Pecorelli's primary area of interest is the first generation of Brazilian modernism. His research also includes Italian-language literature published in early twentieth-century Brazil.
