"Meetings like these are great for student growth because of networking, collegiality, professional development, and scientific knowledge," Dr. Sabrina Fordham, associate department head and associate professor of kinesiology, said. "Several of our students have returned with ideas for their own research."

Three Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û student groups shared poster presentations during the meeting:

  • Danielle Bull: "Analysis of an Abbreviated Functional Movement Screening."
  • Lily Cohran: "Anaerobic Performance Improvements Following Ingestion Of R-1,3-Butanediol (KETONEIQ)."
  • Ray Davis and Shep Hancock: " The Effects Of Non-Stimulant Pre-Workout Combined With Exogenous Caffeine And Ketone Supplementation"

Cohran, a senior pursuing a degree in kinesiology with an exercise science concentration placed third in the undergraduate student poster competition.

"Placing for my research was so fulfilling. It was so great to see all my hard work pay off and be recognized," said the Acworth, Georgia, native. "It showed me that I am pursuing the right career field and doing what I was meant to do."

Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û also had representation in the meeting's Quiz Bowl for the first time since Õý°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û started having student attendees last year. Junior Connor McKay and Zachary Payne competed and placed sixth out of 32 teams.

"The Quiz Bowl was an amazing opportunity for us to see how the quality of education in the exercise science concentration of the Kinesiology Department stacks up against programs at other universities," McKay said.

Mckay, who is from Cumming, Georgia, is also pursuing a degree in kinesiology.
