Intelligence Minor

The intelligence minor provides you with an understanding of the evolution of the intelligence discipline, structure of the U.S. intelligence community, and the processes and policies involved in producing intelligence to meet the needs of the next generation of military and civilian leaders. The need for developing qualified intelligence analysts is self-evident through even a cursory review of today's news headlines.

Our most recent national election, the very foundation of our democratic system, was attacked by foreign intelligence agencies. On October 4, 2017, four U.S. servicemen were killed in Niger as a result of what a senior congressional aide called a massive intelligence failure. On September 7, 2017 Equifax, one of the largest consumer credit reporting agencies, reported a data breach that is expected to impact 147 million consumers.

Intelligence analysts have the ability to understand the nature of these events and develop strategies to prevent their reoccurrence. As a state leadership institution and the Military College of Georgia we have a responsibility and duty to provide our military and civilian agencies with leaders qualified to deal with the latest threats to our national security. The creation of this minor is an initial step in meeting those needs.
